Class Dojo and Arbor

At Aldercar Infant School we recognise the importance of parental engagement, and seek to actively involve our parents and families in the school community.  Positive parental engagement helps us to foster good relationships between our families, which in turn has been shown to support children's development, attendance, and behaviour.

We use Class Dojo and Arbor Parent Portal to communicate with families, and share newsletters, updates, and individual messages.  We encourage all parents to download the Class Dojo and Arbor Parent Portal apps, to ensure you stay up to date with what's happening in school.

Both apps are available on Iphone and Android; just search for ClassDojo and Arbor Parent App to download.  

Class Dojo

Class Dojo is a communication platform that we use in school between teachers and parents. Class dojo’s mission is to reinvent classrooms by bringing teachers, students and parents closer together.

It is a way for teachers to update parents on the learning of their child, as well as allowing both parent and teacher to send private messages. These messages will only be seen by the parent involved and their class teacher. The updates the class teacher puts on the app will be seen by all. These will include things such as homework ideas, what we are going to be learning about next week and any dates for the diary we need you to be aware of.

Important things to remember…

• Teachers will only reply between the hours of 8am and 4pm. However, please remember that we teach your children from 8.40am-12pm and 1pm-3.15pm, so you may not receive a message back until the end of the day.
• We will not be using the app during school holidays or weekends.
• You still need to ring the office if your child is absent from school.
• We will not be using the behaviour report section of the app, unless we feel it is necessary at a later date. We have many other behaviour systems in school that work.

Arbor Parent Portal and Parent App

Arbor is our school management system and it is used by thousands of schools across the UK.  The system also has a Parent Portal, which provides parents with a snapshot of the data held for their child, along with details of the consents and permission given by you.  

We also use the Parent Portal to share newsletters, important information, and updates specific to you and your child.
