Welcome to Amazing Ash.
We are a Year 1/2 class. We enjoy learning and playing together and working as a team.
These are the adults who help us with our learning:
Mrs Smith and Miss Walker are the class teachers. Mrs Smith teaches us every Monday, Tuesday and alternate Wednesdays and Miss Walker teaches us on alternate Wednesdays and every Thursday and Friday.

In Amazing Ash, we aim to create experiences which are exciting, and capture the interests of our children. Our topics can be either chosen by the teachers eg. The Great Fire of London, Growing and The Seaside, or chosen by the children eg. Magic, Dinosaurs, Kings and Queens and Chocolate.
We always begin each new topic with a ‘WOW’ starter or experience.
Every day we come in and have a morning activity. This is an activity linked to something that we are learning about:
- 9am: We have Phonics.
- 9.30am: We have English.
- 10.30am: Play time.
- 10.45am: We come in for a drink and healthy snack.
- 10.50am: We start Maths.
- 12pm: Dinner time and individual reading with an adult.
- 1.10pm: Registration.
In the afternoon we either have Science or Topic lessons (Geography, History, Computing, Design and Technology, music).
We aim to read individually at least twice a week with each child. Every Friday each child will take part in a guided reading session.
RE is taught through assemblies and as a class session on a Tuesday
Throughout the week R Time sessions help the children learn to respect and work together.
PE sessions take place on a Tuesday and Wednesday
Throughout the year, our year 2 children will spend six consecutive Thursday afternoons doing Forest Schools.
Behaviour and Rewards
We follow the whole school behaviour system. As a class we made our own rules and made a promise to follow these.
Golden Time is on a Friday afternoon and is a reward for our good behaviour. This is where we choose a treat such as choosing, parachute, extra play time, cinema and popcorn etc.
Star of the Week
Each week a child is picked to be Star of the Week.
