Our Learning Environments
The indoor environment provides a safe, secure yet challenging space for all children to explore and learn. It contains well planned resources and activities which are appropriate, accessible and flexible to all.
Being outdoors has a positive impact on children's sense of well-being and helps all aspects of children's development. It allows children to do things in different ways and on different scales than when indoors. We have a recently renovated outdoor space, which we share with the other Reception class, that all of the children can access.
Reception/Year 1 curriculums
Although in our class we have a mix of Reception and Year 1 children, our lessons and activities are all designed with the children in mind. The Reception children will still access the Reception curriculum, and the Year 1’s will still access the Year 1 curriculum, as the teachers plan together to ensure all of the children’s needs are met.
Play underpins all development and learning for young children. Most children play spontaneously, although some may need adult support.
It is through play and practical activities that children develop intellectually, creatively, physically, socially and emotionally.
In Fantastic Fir we aim to provide well-planned play experiences, both indoors and outdoors, through topics that excite, interest and challenge our children.
Our topics this year are…
- Autumn 1 – All about me
- Autumn 2 – Celebrations
- Spring 3 – Children’s choice
- Spring 4 – Growing
- Summer 5 – Children’s choice
- Summer 6 – The seaside
In Fantastic Fir we try our best to be Aldercar stars all year round.
We follow the class rules…
We work hard to be star of the week. We can then take Stripes home!
We try hard to do the right thing by reaching numbers 4, 3, 2 or 1 on the rocket…
We also try hard to get stamps on our chart…
